Types Of Birds In Georgia

The state of Georgia, in the United State of America, is home to many birds and there truly are various types of birds in Georgia. In fact the state is home to a number of colorful birds that cannot be found in many other countries around the world or in other states in the US. The boat-trailed grackle is one of the many types of birds in Georgia though these have also been seen in New York. These birds are quite large in size and to look at and their tails are shaped like keels. They have slender bodies and are quite long too. Their legs and feet are grey in color and you can find them in water in Georgia. Their grey legs and feet are what help distinguish them from other kinds of birds in the state of Georgia.

In comparison to these, there are those types of birds in Georgia that are known as common grackles which can be found in meadows, forests and urban area as well. These grackles, unlike the boat-trailed grackle, are medium in shape and have bright yellow eyes. Their legs and feet are black or towards the darker side. They are strong and much swifter where flight is concerned in comparison to their boat-trailed counterparts. They beat their wings very rapidly too.

One of the most unique types of birds in Georgia is the yellow headed black bird. Their names should be able to give you a good idea of what they look like- they have yellow heads and everything below their head is black in color. Their feet and legs are black too and they are medium in shape and feed on larvae, insects, snails, grains and seeds- so their diets appear to be quite diverse!

Another one of the many unique types of birds in Georgia is the White-Winged Tern which literally has white wings. They are small in size but their wings are what help one distinguish them from other types of birds- their wings are typically white in color. They have red feet and legs- these birds are quite colorful but don’t let their sizes fool you- these birds know how to hunt for prey and usually hover above their prey before diving in for the kill!

The Pomarine Jaegar Dark Morph is large in size and they wings that are black and dark gray but you can see wisps of white near the tip of the wings. They have pale necks and brown collars underneath that. Their wings help distinguish them from other types of birds in Georgia and interestingly reproduction is only successful once every 3-4 years amongst the Dark Morph.
