Types Of Food In Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of the many places that are rich in culture and heritage and this is why there are many types of food in Costa Rica. Most of the types of food in Costa Rica are composed of rice and beans. But there are many different kinds of types of food in Costa Rica that are good to know and get familiar with.

Gallo Pinto is the favorite breakfast among all types of food in Costa Rica. Much like any and every other types of food in Costa Rica, this is served with beans and rice. It has, however, sour cream, scrambled eggs, and plantains that are fried. These types of food in Costa Rica are best paired with fresh fruit juice and coffee.

Casados are the favorite lunch dishes among all types of food in Costa Rica. Again, these are composed of beans and rice. It is also served with either fish or meat, salad, plantains that are fried, corn tortitlla and white cheese. In the Gallo Pinto, the rice and the beans are served with everything else. In Casados, however, it is served side by side.

There are many different types of food in Costa Rica that are served for dinner. There we have the Arroz con Pollo, which is chicken and rice with vegetables, chayote, camote and yucca. Sometimes, the Arroz con Pollo is also served with seafood. How the dish is served will be based on the person who served it.

Bocas are also common types of food in Costa Rica. It includes a dip made out of black bean. Chimichurri is another one which is basically tomatoes and onions that are served with lime juice, tortilla chips and sometimes even ceviche. Ceviche is composed of shrimp or fish combined with onion and lime juice.

Seasonally, Tamale is also served and favorite types of food in Costa Rica. Tamale is basically a corn meal. The main difference between this and other corn meals is that, to make it more Costa Rican, it has rice and beans together with meat and vegetables and is covered in plantain leaves.

Corn is very common in Costa Rica. This being said, there are many different kinds of corn based dishes there. This long list includes pozol and chorreadas, which are corn soup and corn pancakes respectively.

Soups are popular in Costa Rica too. This is why there are many different soups there such as the arroz con leche which is rice cooked with sugar, cinnamon, and milk.

As for dessert, Costa Ricans love the fruits and the milk. Fruits are very abundant in Costa Rica too, and this is why there are many Costa Ricans that like to eat the ensalada de frutas which is composed of banana, macaruya, papaya, and many other tropical fruits. They also love the Tres Leches which is a cake that is bathed with different kinds of milk – condensed, evaporated, and regular milk – and was finished with an awesome amount of whipped cream on top.
