Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers amongst women and it causes death almost every few hours around the world and there are different types of tumors in the breast that affect women. A tumor is simply a product of the multiplication of cancerous cells at an abnormally fast rate in any given part of the body. It is believed that everyone has cancer cells in them but that these cells are dormant within us. While some types of tumors in the breast are commonly found in all women, there are also those that are rare or uncommon.
The problem with all types of tumors in the breast is that initially one can never know if what they have is really breast cancer or something else. Take the example of inflammatory breast cancer. What happens in this case is that the breast may swell up and look larger or become unusually firmer and another thing that happens is that the breast may be itchy and appear to be orange in color. At first this was mistaken for mastitis but it was recently discovered that the blocking of the lymph nodes by the carcinogenic cells is what causes the breast to appear this way.
Paget disease of the nipple is one of the other types of tumors in the breast. This is perhaps one of the rarest but most unusual forms of breast cancer and it usually starts off from/at the nipple. The nipple may appear to be crusty or such like and the woman may notice that her nipple burns from time to time. Mastectomy is the only solution to this. If the doctor happens to find a lump, chances are that the breast would have to be removed to prevent the cancer from spreading to other parts of the body.
Triple-negative breast cancer occurs due to those types of tumors in the breast which do not have estrogen and progesterone receptors. The cancer is rare but it is relatively more common in younger women and women in Africa. The cancer spreads at a fast level and there is no way as such to stop it, except chemotherapy, because it lacks receptors that would make it slow. These types of tumors in the breast cannot be cured via hormone therapy and though chemotherapy may slow it down, it is thought that this cancer cannot be stopped or sent into remission completely.
Angiosarcoma is probably one of those types of tumors in the breast that are extremely rare and these mainly occur due to the complication in the way treatment of the breast cancer was done. The radiation may occur 5-10 years after radiation over the years and this this is also one of those types of tumors in the breast that, though rare, can spread fast and quickly. This type of cancer can start anywhere else in the body too- it isn’t necessary for the breast to be affected only for the cancer to spread to other parts of the body.
