An endocrine disease affects the endocrine system and there are different types of endocrine diseases. But diabetes comes to mind for a lot of people, even though there are so many others. Below is a n explanation of the different types of endocrine diseases that can affect men and women:
Adrenal insufficiency: This occurs when the adrenal glands produce too little of the aldosterone and cortisol hormones. Common symproms of these types of endocrine diseases include skin changes, dehydration, stomach upset, and fatigue. One very good example of this type of disease is addison’s disease.
Cushing’s disease: This leads to excessive activity of the adrenal gland which is caused by too much production of the pituitary glands. This condition is more prone to affect children, especially those under the corticosteroid medication.
Gigantism: These types of endocrine diseases occur when the bone grows unusually fast as a result of the overproduction of the pituitary gland. Sometimes it might be hereditary and sometimes it occurs as a result of a change in nutrition or an overdose of Growth Hormone Tablets.
Hyperthyroidism: This occurs as a result of the overproduction of the thyroid hormone, which leads to nervousness, sweating, abnormal heart rate, and weight loss. The Grave’s disease is an example of these types of endocrine diseases.
Hypothyroidism: This is the exact opposite of hyperthyroidism as it is caused by a less than adequate production of the thyroid hormone. These types of endocrine diseases can result to depression, dry skin, constipation, and fatigue. A hypothyroidism can be hereditary and can affect an individual from birth.
Hypopituitarism: This occurs when the pituitary gland does not release enough hormone for the body needs. This is one of the types of endocrine diseases that can be a result of different diseases and can stop women from seeing their periods.
Multiple endocrine neoplasia: This is less common among the types of endocrine diseases and is mainly hereditary. A sufferer of an endocrine neoplasia will normally have tumors in their thyroid, adrenal, and parathyroid glands, which leads to excessive production of hormones.
Polycystic syndrome: This normally occurs in women at the ovary production interface. It occurs when there is an excessive supply of androgens which disrupts eggs development in the ovaries and results to infertility.
Precocious puberty: This is more of an endocrine abnormality than a disease as it is caused by the early release of sex hormones, leading to early puberty.

An endocrinologist is the specialist responsible for the treatment of endocrine disorders. These are the people that are trained to identify and cure endocrine related health problems. The symptom of endocrine diseases differs and largely depends on the type of glands involved. But a lot of people with this type of disorder normally feel weak and complain of fatigue.
A person with endocrine disease symptoms is usually required to undergo urine test to check their hormone levels and find out whether they are affected with the disease.
Overall, the above types of endocrine diseases can be divided into three, namely; Tumours (malignant or benign) of the endocrine glands, Endocrine hypersecretion (excessive hormone production), and Endocrine hyposecretion (inadequate hormone production).
