Types Of Energy And Power
There are two main types of energy and power. However, under these two types, there are others that are categorized under them. No matter what kinds of energy and power are there, it is always a must that you do everything to make sure that you are able to conserve them right. Basically, the types of energy and power are divided into nonrenewable sources and renewable sources. The nonrenewable ones are those that come from resources that cannot be renewed. The renewable ones, on the other hand, are those that replenish themselves.
The nonrenewable types of energy and power include those that come from fossil fuels. They are those that come from coal and natural gas as well. Petroleum is a good example of a nonrenewable types of energy and power too as well as uranium. The main characterizing factor of these types of energy and power is that when they have been used, then they will not be able to go back and that they are gone – forever. The bad part about these nonrenewable types of energy and power is that the process for as to how they are gathered can be really harmful for the environment. For instance, when energy is gotten from fossil fuels, they are sent to a combustion process. This is a process that involves a lot of burning and pollution. It releases sulfur dioxide as well as carbon monoxide which can lead to the production of acid rain.
The renewable types of energy and power are the ones that are being pushed to be used by people. This is because of the fact that these can be used over and over and hence means that it will not be harming the environment. Yes, they can cause pollution too in some ways. However, these types of energy and power promise that the ones that they produce will never be enough to harm the littlest insect. Solar energy is among the renewable types of energy and power that is mostly used by many. As the name implies, this is energy that is harnessed from the sun. Through the use of solar panels, the energy from the sun is converted into electricity. This is why there are many houses and office places and establishments that have solar panels at their roofs so that they can harness electricity from the sun easily.
Wind turbines are another example of renewable types of energy and power. These wind turbines generate electricity too. Geothermal energy is the one that come from the crust of the earth. They are not the fossil fuels, mind you. Basically, very hot water or steam is gathered from the earth’s crust and they are the ones that are converted into electricity. Biomasses are renewable energy too. These are the natural products that can be used and reused to produce energy such as manure, corn, and wood. Lastly, dams and rivers are used in hydropower. The current that is produced by the water rushing through the water turbines end up as electricity as they are used to run electric generators.
