Clay: it is the type of soil which feels very silky to touch. This soil is found few feets down from the surface soil. It is a type of soil water which always carries a certain amount of water in it and it is necessary to drain the entire amount of water. It is so because the presence of water makes it thick like cement and plantation in such a soil is impossible.

Sandy: this is the dry form of soil carries small particles and it is of a lighter color. Because of its dry texture it quickly gets heated up and is highly efficient for the plantation. In fact, within a year one can see the amazing growth of the crops.

Loam: the mixture of clay and sand results in loam. This means it has the properties of both types of soil water. It helps in an easy grow on the plants because it has the feature of sand but because the properties of clay are also there the plant does not get the enough strength.

Chalky: this is the soil which is not less than a problem for the gardeners. It has a composition of such type of soil which does not support the chlorosis process which results the conversion of the leaves into yellow color. The gardener is required to add some more nutrients to this type of soil in order to get the good results.

Peat: it is a black and brown colored soil. It is the result of continuous decomposition and the growth of the plant.

Subsoil: this soil is the topmost layer of the garden and its thickness is around a foot.
