The knowledge of the types of blood types is vital to anyone, anywhere. You see, blood is the fuel that makes us function. First, you should be able to identify the components of the blood to be able to fully understand the types of blood types. Antigens are the elements that bind the antibody to the blood. The antibodies, on the other hand, are the blood component used mostly by the immune system to neutralize and fight unnecessary objects in the blood. The red blood cells are the parts of the blood that moves oxygen and brings it to the lungs. It is also what takes out the carbon dioxide we breathe and hence it is very important. The white blood cells, alternatively, are the ones that fight of bacteria and viruses that is found in the blood. The A types of blood types are the ones that have the A antigen and the B antibody. The antigens are found in the surface of the red blood cells. The antibodies, on the other hand, are to be found in the blood plasma. If you are an A type, you can donate your red blood cells to those who have types of blood types A and AB.
The B types of blood types are those who have the B antigen and the A antibody. Much like in the A types, the antigens are found in the surface of the red blood cells while the antibodies are on the blood plasma. The people who have type B blood can donate their red blood cells to the people who are type B and AB.
The AB types of blood types are those who have the A and B antigens and have no antibody at all. If you are an AB type of person, you can donate blood to the people who are AB as well. However, if you will be the one who will need blood, you can receive it from all the others.
Lastly, the O types of blood types are those who do not have antigens in their blood but have both A and B antibodies. The blood type O is the universal donor. This is because they can donate blood to all the other types of blood.
