Types Of Cars Engines
If you have a car, then you should get to know the types of cars engines. Basically, these types of cars engines are the ones that will define how well your car can perform. The engine is the heart of the car. It is what makes it run. The many types of cars engines can be different but they all have their advantages to bring us. This is why it is important to get to know them so that we can choose the ones that will suit our needs.
The flat types of cars engines are those that are, well, flat. The cylinders of these types of cars engines are arranged linear and horizontally flat. They are also the engines that can be placed lower because of their design. With engines like these, cars can be more stable and this is why they are usually placed in the middle part of the car. The most common types of flat engines are the Flat 4 and the Flat 6.
The inline types of cars engines are those that have cylinders placed at the crank shaft top. They are arranged, as the name implies, inline at 90 degrees vertical. Because of this arrangement of the cylinders, these engine types are known to be able to produce a lot of power. They are known to be able to provide you a smooth ride too. The most common examples of the inline engine types include the I-4 and the I-6, which can usually be found in Honda cars.
The V types of cars engines are the most common engine types today. Almost all cars today are equipped with these engines, even the F1 cars. Basically, V type engines are called such because the cylinders are arranged opposite of each other. This arrangement makes the cylinders form a letter V, hence the name. Given that there are many cars that use V type engines, it is also known that there are many manufacturers of these and each one of them arrange their cylinders in a different angle. The most common examples of the V type engines include the V6, V8, V10, and the V12.
The W types of cars engines are not very common ones. The cars that use these engines are the ones that need lots of short cylinders. The W type is known to have many cylinders that are arranged in a compact way. There are not a lot of cars that use these because, given that there are many parts of these engines, they are known to be tricky to maintain and repair. Most common examples are W8 and W16.
Lastly, the Wankel types of cars engines are the ones that do not have, at all, pistons. They are composed of a triangular rotor. This rotor then spins around in a chamber. The shaft that these engines have is a singular one and it is found in the center. The most common examples of these types of cars engines are found in Mazda’s RX7 and RX8.
