What are the different types of exercise? Exercise is defined as activities done to ensure fitness and overall great health and wellness. There are many different reasons why people do exercise. However, the common factor between them is that the goal is always to achieve a better you. There are four main types of exercise. These types of exercise are endurance, balance, strength, and flexibility.
Endurance types of exercise are routines that are done mainly to improve breathing and the heart rate. These are different types of activities that are physically done. Another name for endurance types of exercise are aerobics. Aerobics are just done so we can improve our heart rate and breathing, though. We can also perform endurance exercises to ensure that we have a fit body and overall have great health. The main targets of endurance exercises are the heart, circulatory system, and the lungs. If these body parts are well exercised, chances are you will be able to prevent different diseases. The long list of diseases that you can avoid are heart disease as well as diabetes Also, from the term ‘endure’ itself which is the root word for endurance. This only means that these activities will make your body used to endure the most rigorous of tasks. Common examples of endurance types of exercise are biking, swimming, dancing, tennis, and basketball.
Strength types of exercise are activities that aim to improve your muscles. In specific, doing these types of exercise will allow you to develop your muscles and make them strong. There are many different things that we can do to perform strength exercise. You don’t need heavy and expensive equipment to do so, really. You can just go up and down a staircase or maybe carry books while brisk walking. These are already part of strength training. Examples of strength training include weight lifting and using resistance bands.
Balance types of exercise are those activities that ensure that we are always and in fact, always balanced. This is a good thing especially to adults as they are prone to these things. Therefore, it is important that you keep your lower body strong and healthy. This will greatly improve your balance. Some examples of these balance types of exercise are tai chi, walking heel to toe, and standing on one foot.
Lastly, we have flexibility types of exercise. These are types of exercise that are done so that your muscles will be stretched and worked out. These different exercises will ensure that your body is always limber. Flexibility allows us to move around and go about pretty much anything without experiencing tiredness and fatigue. Also, this will give us the freedom of movement that we need the most in our everyday living. Some of the most common examples of the flexibility exercise types are yoga, shoulder and upper arm stretch, calf stretch, and many others.
You see, there are many different exercises that you can turn into. Keep in mind that all of these have a purpose, and it’s not just to look good – it’s to be healthy and fit.
