Types Of Windows Installations

If you know the different types of windows installations and their installation steps, installing windows won’t have to be so difficult. Installing a windows application is as simple as installing any other type of application. The main difficulty with the different types of windows installations is not on the installation process but after installation. Will the application work properly after installation or will there be an installation error? How about the hardware capability of the software you have installed? Any of these might pose a great challenge after the installation process. But you need to know the different types of windows installations if you are to be efficient at installing windows. This is because the type of installation you decide to adopt might affect the entire installation process. There are three basic types of windows installations which are explained below:

* Clean or complete installation:

A clean windows installation is carried out when you don’t want to keep the previously installed features or when you there is no pre-installed windows in your system. Of the three types of windows installations, it is the only installation method that gives you absolute confidence that no other program of file is left in your previous installation. Since you are installing the windows afresh, there will be less confusion which leads to improved stability and performance. But this type of installation requires that you reconfigure and reinstall all other applications after the windows installation process is complete.

* Upgrade installation:

This is the most common of the three types of windows installations. upgrade installations take lesser time and efforts than clean installation because you are not installing all the components afresh. In addition, there is no need to reconfigure your windows setting or remove and reinstall other programs in the system.

But the flaw of an upgrade installation is the fact that a program that is malfunctioning cannot be corrected unless you reinstall that program after the upgrade. Also, you won’t be able to change any setting since you are not carrying out a complete windows installation

* Multiple boot installation:

This is the longest and most challenging of the three types of windows installations. As the name implies, a multiple booth installation is the installation process whereby different operating systems are installed on one computer. During system startup, the user can decide which operating system to use. This type of windows installation enables you maintain all types of program that perform effectively under a particular type of operating system. It allows the user to be flexible in the use of different installed programs.

After picking one of the three types of windows installations, the next thing is to decide which installation method you want to use. There are also three different windows installation methods:

* Standard installation: primarily used by small business and home users and requires the user to be stationed at the system in case there is an information needed to complete the installation.

* Network installation: This is an installation method where CDs are not needed and all files are located on a shared network

* Automated installation: An automated installation has all the necessary installation method stored in a file and does not require the user to provide any information. This method reduces unnecessary user delays during the setup process.
